Costa Rica Weddings / Moni + Macho, La Luna Playa Pelada
This wedding is one that is close to my heart. I have known the bride, Monica, for a long, long time, and Macho, the groom, for quite some time as well (though not as much). It is always an (extra) honor and a source of (extra) joy to help someone I know plan their wedding.
From the get go, Moni and Macho, who love the ocean, surfing, and the outdoors, knew their wedding had to be at the beach. They picked one of the coolest beachfront spots in Guanacaste, La Luna in Playa Pelada, near Nosara... and nature blessed them with one of the most stunning afternoons (and kept the rain at bay, at least for most of the night) I have recent memory of.
True to their style, they wanted their wedding to be super casual, laid back and fun, and they wanted the overall feel and design to reflect that. We opted to take advantage of the venues existing furniture, an eclectic rustic mix with just the right beachy feel, and added mix n' match bottles and jars filled with flowers. The couple spent time cutting up bottles of various colors and sizes to use on the tables, and we made good use of them in the floral pieces and as cande holders.... Throw a bit of lace here and custom made triangular dream catchers there.... and the whole place felt perfect for this celebration.
Moni & Macho are blessed with awesome friends who participated in their wedding... from two friends who officiated, to another friend who did the actual legal wedding, to family and friends who did beautiful readings and speeches, and talented musical friends who played music during the ceremony and cocktail hour, the whole day was filled with well deserved love.
After feasting on great mediterranean style food (La Luna's specialty), everyone danced the night away.... and not even a mid-night downpour was able to stop the party!
